Richard Miles is Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education – Enterprise and Engagement, Professor of Roman History and Archaeology, and the immediate past Head of School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at the University of Sydney and Director of the ArtSS Career-Ready Program at the University of Sydney. Previously, he was Director of Studies in Classics at Trinity Hall, University of Cambridge. As Pro Vice-Chancellor, Professor Miles leads whole-of-university initiatives to embed real-world learning in the educational and student experience. In 2018, he oversaw a transformation of the undergraduate curriculum to enable students from each faculty and school to undertake an interdisciplinary, and real-worldlearning experience as part of their major at the third and fourth-yearlevel. The program is open to domestic and international students and involves partnerships with more than 50 major community, entrepreneurship and industry partners domestically and internationally.
