Elena is an analyst at Centre for Cities where she leads the work on education, employment and skills. In her recent research, she has focused on the impact of labour market trends such as automation and globalisation on demand for jobs and skills, looking at what UK cities can do to best prepare for the future of work. She looked at the types of skills that are more in demand among employers and how these skills are developed throughout education, from the early years through to life-long learning. Her upcoming research also include work on inclusive growth, economic inactivity and self-employment.
Elena joined the Centre as a Researcher in April 2017, having previously worked in the policy team of Universities UK, where she conducted research on degree apprenticeships.
She holds an MSc in International Public Policy from UCL and a BSc in International Economics from Bocconi University.
