Welcome to our new series of monthly Product Updates!
We are constantly working on developing new products, as well as new functions, layouts and designs in our existing products, and we want to share these with you so that you can see what we are doing to help you get the data you need in easier and more intuitive ways. Each month, we’ll be showcasing the things we’ve been working on, as well as giving you a sneak peek at the product roadmap ahead.
This month, we’ve made a major update to a core report in our Analyst tool — the Economy Overview — which we’ve redesigned to give you new sections, better visuals, and more data. So what have we added?
The short video below runs through the main changes we’ve made, and below that we’ve given some brief explanations and visuals:
To make the data easier to understand, we have added “Takeaways”, a section giving contextual information on your area, including a summary on population and jobs growth, how these compare to the national average, along with a glimpse of your area’s top industries:
Gross Value Added
Gross Value Added (GVA) has been added, in order to quickly show you your area’s economic output. This section also allows you to add other regions, so that you can compare the GVA in your area, plus a number of key variables, with other parts of the country:
The newly designed Demographics section enables you to see a breakdown of your area’s population by age and ethnicity:
And we’ve also included some extra details about population characteristics, including the number of millennials in your area, the numbers approaching retirement, plus ethnic diversity. Each one of these is compared to the country as a whole:
Perhaps the most exciting thing of all is that all of this data is available to download as a “presentation-ready” PDF. If you click on the image to the right, you’ll see a PDF we’ve created for the South East, but of course this can be done for your area, all the way down to your Local Authority.
Coming up next month
Next month, we hope to be able to unveil a brand-new product we’ve been working hard on. “Emsi Talent” is primarily aimed at the Staffing and Recruitment sector, and includes Occupation and Market Snapshots, giving key insights on jobs, demographics and regional LMI, all in “presentation-ready’ reports. Stay tuned.
