With OLASS 5 set to kick off in Q1 of 2018, and with the procurement process expected to broadly follow the recommendations in Prison Safety and Reform, education and training providers will need to demonstrate in their bids how they can respond to regional demand. Not only this, but the successful organisations will then need to carry the theory over into practice, by actually providing a curriculum which aligns with local employer demand in the prison region. The question is how this can be done.
We have just released a 12-page report which shows how Labour Market Insight (LMI) can be used in both the bidding process and beyond. With a Foreword by Rob Mills, who is a Specialist Education and Justice Advisor who led the LMI project as part of the Coates Review into Prison Education, this report shows both why LMI is crucial and how it might be applied by giving a snapshot of data for HMP Winchester region.
