The National Association for Managers of Student Services (NAMSS) is holding its annual conference in March at the Hilton Hotel in Liverpool. At the conference, EMSI will be giving a workshop highlighting Career Coach, titled ‘Putting labour market information at the heart of careers planning’.
The workshop will use a series of case studies to show how colleges have been implementing Career Coach to support a wide range of careers and guidance activities. Career Coach links a college’s course profile, which provides training for specific occupations, to local labour market information associated with those occupations. Combining profiles and labour market information provides current and prospective students with an understanding of employment trends, earnings prospects and links to live job vacancies. Besides helping learners find jobs after graduation, this knowledge can also help them remain focussed while they are in college, resulting in a greater success rate and on-time graduation rate.
Career Coach is currently in use at 23 FE colleges across the nation and at Southampton Solent University.
The NAMSS provides information and training to student services managers, thereby enhancing the learning offered by colleges.
