Bedford College has given itself a facelift, and the effort is paying off. The College Marketing Network held their annual conference this week and Monday night saw the 2012 FE First Awards, which “showcase the excellent and imaginative work that is being achieved in further education colleges across the UK.” Bedford College submitted detailed outlines of the success of their online campaigns, and walked away with two Gold Awards that night—the Website Award and the Digital Communications Campaign Award.
This year, the College has been focusing on increasing not only their website traffic, but “user outcomes” on the site. A site visitor is all well and good, but the College would like them to participate in one of the offered services, whether that means signing up for a course, subscribing to a newsletter, or visiting a commercial retail outlet. Bedford College also increased and focused their online marketing campaign.
Both of these efforts involved the use of EMSI’s Career Coach, which the College has been putting to great use. As we mentioned in a blog post earlier this month, Sarah Baxter, Director of Sales and Marketing at Bedford College, was positive in her evaluation of Career Coach: ‘With a predominately young audience to connect with, effective online marketing is crucial. By promoting Career Coach, we are driving traffic to our website and the average time visitors now spend on the site has doubled.’
With two Gold Awards, Bedford College’s online presence has never looked better. We’re pleased to have contributed to their success.
